Parenting Young Children

Parenting Young Children is a home-based parent education program that aims to develop positive parent-child interactions and improved child care skills in parents with a learning difficulty. The aim of training is to enable practitioners to build best practice processes into their work. Training for Parenting Young Children is conducted over three phases:

  • Phase 1: background reading and multiple choice assessment
  • Phase 2: two-day face-to-face training in a group setting
  • Phase 3: using the program with a family with support from the Healthy Start team
