Description of activities of Hub:
We hold bi-monthly meetings.
We have set up a resource library.
We applied for, and were successful, in receiving grant funding for training.
|
Findings or Discoveries of Hub:
We are collating resources for our library from a range of sources, especially from the Unit of Study and those mentioned on the listserv.
We are looking at supporting families with older children and also how to support schools.
We are looking at what services are offered for these families in WA.
|
What worked well for our Hub:
We are now reviewing articles and resources, so more members are getting involved in meetings.
Having a range of organisations represented leads to good discussions.
|
What did not work well for our Hub:
The hub convenor was not delegating tasks to other members at first.
Getting people to attend hub meetings (The hub convenor always sends good minutes).
|
What can others learn from our experience:
Try to involve hub members in the meeting from the beginning.
Have articles and resources for people to review and discuss.
Always have good afternoon tea to attract people!
|
What is the plan for the future for our Hub:
The project funding will help to develop ‘train the trainer’ packages for disability organisations in WA.
We want to further develop information for families with older children and the organisations that serve them.
