Abstract: The number of parents with a learning disability is increasing, so it is important that the roles of professionals in supporting them are identified. The community learning disability nurse can assess, plan, implement and evaluate the support provided to parents with a learning disability to develop their skills. This article discusses issues relating to parenting and learning disability, including abuse and neglect, and ways of teaching parenting skills to people with a learning disability.
