Abstract: The purpose of this article is to (1) outline ethical and legal issues related to parenting by mentally handicapped person, (2) review the relatively scant research dealing with these parents and their children, (3) describe the research results of our 68 and training program for slow parents conducted at the Surrey Place Centre, and (4) discuss future concerns and directions.
